Arsenal vs Stoke City: Premier League Betting Preview

It’s been a long break from the Premier League as players were away on national duty this past couple of weeks finalising their preparations for the World Cup in Russia. However, the Premier League resumes for the last eight matches of the 2017/18 season. In match week 31, Arsenal will host relegation-threatened Stoke City at the Emirates as the Arsenal continue to push for the Europa League spot.

Betting Odds

The Arsenal vs Stoke City match is the perfect match for bettors as its one of those matches in which history often times than not repeat itself. Several bookmakers including CasinoBet have over a dozen betting markets for this game with the most popular one being the 3-way betting market in favour of Arsenal with 6/1 odds for a win. Arsenal is unbeaten at home by Stoke in the last seven matches across all competitions. Arsenal is trying to maintain its position to ensure qualification for Europa League next season as the teams below them especially Burnley are piling on the pressure.

Arsenal’s new boy Pierre Emerick Aubameyang is also expected to play a huge part and CasinoBet has him at 7/2 to score the first goal. The last time that the two teams met was at the Bet365 Stadium where Stoke City won by one goal courtesy of debutant Jesse. This will be Aubameyang’s first game against Stoke City and he would want to continue his goal scoring run which has seen him score three goals in his first appearances for the gunners.

Arsenal’s form since the turn of the year in the Premier League has left a lot to be desired as it has lost some matches against teams struggling at the bottom of the table such as Bournemouth, Brighton, and Swansea. This will obviously be in the minds of the Stoke City players and manager when they make the trip to the Emirates. Arsenal found it hard to get going against the teams that took the game to them rather than those that tried to defend and let Arsenal control the game. If Stoke City manages to take the game to the Arsenal without fear, then it’s possible for them to break the duck which has seen them leave the Emirates Stadium with zero points in their last seven visits.

Team News

The two teams went into the international break with some injury concerns and Arsenal, in particular, had some players suffer injuries during the international break.

Besides long-term absentee Santi Carzola, Arsenal does not have any other long-term injury concerns but they will be sweating for the fitness of Laurent Koscielny who missed France’s games with a back injury and Jack Wilshere who had to withdraw from the England squad with a knee injury. Alexandre Lacazette returned to full training from a knee injury during the international break and it’s to be seen if he has fully regained fitness to feature in the Stoke City match.

Stoke City has three long-term absentees in Eric Choupo-Moting, Lee Grant, and Geoff Cameroon. However, Paul Lambert could welcome back Stephen Ireland from a calf injury and Mame Biram Diouf from a shoulder injury. Charlie Adam will miss the game as he starts his three-match ban following his red card in the Everton game.
